Happy Birthday to Us.
It is hard to pinpoint the exact day of opening for KIWII but it is a year ago today that I, Claire, took what was a very emotional step, out of a very safe place at Castles Estate Agency and into what I felt was the bright light of KIWII.It had been a big decision for me but ultimately an easy one. Castles were my family here in Spain and working with them and being given the total autonomy to help grow their agency had given me more passion and belief that I could, and had to create my own Agency, for my family and I.
KIWII was born.
An agency had been my goal for many years and the time was right. My children are older and less dependent on me, and I had 12 years of knowledge in the estate agency world on which to build the foundation for KIWII. With many years before that in property development, I knew I had all the tools needed to help people with their dream of property ownership in Spain.A long term friendship and previous working relationship meant that Emily and I knew we held the same values about estate agency, and had the same passion for property and people, and we trusted that our partnership was right.. And so we joined forces and KIWII was born.
This year has flown by and speaking for myself has been a joy and successful on many levels. Not only has our agency continued to grow and flourish, but it has been a year of independence for me, making quick decisions for our business and on a personal level being able to see more of my children. Having worked set office hours for the 12 years before I can now ensure both clients and my children get the best of me. The flexibility of my new found work schedule means that although family time is enhanced I can also dedicate myself to clients ‘out of hours’ during weekends and late evenings when we know most people are free to chat about property and view properties. It’s a win win!
The support that we have been given in our new adventure has been humbling. The other agents that I worked with for so long whilst I was at Barrington Homes and then Castles Estate Agency, have rallied around us and supported us immensely. Clients from the past have been vocal in their recommendations and have cheered us on. Local businesses that know us have shared our posts, and family and friends have understood our long hours, sometimes exhaustion and constant KIWII talk when we are together! Thank you sincerely to everybody that has believed and trusted in us. We are passionate about the KIWII years ahead of us and excited to continue establishing our excellent reputation and relationships in what we feel is the best job in the world.
Why KIWII?
There have been many questions about our name KIWII and I can categorically state that we are not from New Zealand! It is a long marketing story and led from the suggestion by the marketing guru, of using banana! Yes exactly!Time to reflect
At the 1 year mark of the unofficial start of KIWII it’s an ideal time to reflect on our business, year one achievements and how we view the business growing in future years.As anyone who knows me (Emily) will know, this is not the 1st time I have started a business from scratch, I am experienced in all it entails, the work involved and the stress of a ‘start up’. With KIWII however it is very different. KIWII for me is a ‘meant to be’ scenario. Teaming up with a friend and industry expert, and our shared values and commitment to all our clients is the culmination of my previous 20 years in property in the Costa del Sol.
Forming KIWII Estate Agency at this time of my life and career means that I am truly confident in the area, property knowledge and go that ‘extra mile’ every single time to ensure we are doing our utmost for all our clients. We know that the choice to purchase or sell a property particularly often in a ‘new’ country for clients is a big deal. It can be scary and they want someone honest, knowledgeable and experienced enough to understand that its not simply the property they want. It’s the lifestyle and opportunities that this location provides. We listen to our clients and really get to know them to understand their needs and can find that perfect property match. That is what drives me and puts that smile on our face making it all worthwhile.
There have been many highlights this year. The most overwhelming one is the unwavering support and guidance from friends, Real Estate colleagues and new clients. Our Google 5 star rating makes us very proud and just proves we are making a very positive difference.
What´s ahead
So what´s ahead for year 2 ?? A LOT ! There is no ceiling for our ambitions. But what will always be ‘the constant’ is our passion for property, commitment to making every property purchase with KIWII a delightful and enjoyable experience and to connect with our clients to truly understand their lifestyle needs.Our new office in Monte Duquesa will open in 2023. We want to connect more with the local community and will be ideally located in the beautiful Monte Duquesa Courtyard which is a popular year round area for locals and tourists alike. KIWII will always want more ! More happy clients, more superb properties to sell and more chances to welcome new property owners to this wonderful place we call home.
I personally am very excited about the future of KIWII ! My very tenacious and competitive nature appears to be alive and kicking ! It has helped me beat competition to secure properties for our clients, ensure we achieve the best property prices for our buyers and vendors alike and in the future will ensure that this lovely business partnership with Claire will continue to flourish for many years to come.
